The last night of the fair by MachinesBleedToo The last night of the fair by MachinesBleedToo
EDIT: NEW REFINED VERSION THANKS TO COMMENTS/CRITIQUE:

---------
The last night of the fair
By the big wheel generator
A boy is stabbed
And his money is grabbed
And the air hangs heavy like a dulling wine

She is Famous
She is Funny
An engagement ring
Doesn't mean a thing
To a mind consumed by brass (money)

And though I walk home alone
I might walk home alone ...
...But my faith in love is still devout

The last night of the fair
From a seat on a whirling waltzer
Her skirt ascends for a watching eye
It's a hideous trait (on her mother's side)

And though I walk home alone
I might walk home alone ...
...But my faith in love is still devout

Then someone falls in love
And someone's beaten up
Someone's beaten up
And the senses being dulled are mine

And though I walk home alone
I might walk home alone ...
...But my faith in love is still devout

This is the last night of the fair
And the grease in the hair
Of a speedway operator
Is all a tremulous heart requires
A schoolgirl is denied
She said : "How quickly would I die
If I jumped from the top of the parachutes ?"

So scratch my name on your arm with a fountain pen
(This means you really love me)

And though I walk home alone
I just might walk home alone
But my faith in love is still devout
I might walk home alone
But my faith in love is still devout
I might walk home alone
But my faith in love is still devout.

The Smiths- Rusholm Ruffians

There are many versions of this song. This is my favourite because it is the most raw and unrefined and full of emotion and is quite fun. xD

The refined one is lovely too, and sticks to the song script more. There's another album version but those two are my personal favourites. Listen plox. I did, on repeat, the whole like five hours through drawing this.

This song is like...my soul. It's as if it's written through my eyes as I observe people's interactions with good humored sardonicism and sadness. I've always wanted to draw a picture that properly captured the song and how I felt about it, and so here you have it.

I'm not happy with it. Given the weight the song has in my life I don't think I ever will be happy with artworks I produce inspired by it, though. I'm also suffering some serious art angst lately. And ferris wheels are cunts to draw. So all that is a lethal combination. :p

You can see WIPs at my tumblr (which I post to more, so follow me thar, I demand thee.) [link] [link]

edit: 10 favs and 1 comment. Seriously guys? :/ Oh who am I kidding, nobody even reads descriptions anymore. Thank you to those who have taken the time to leave feedback, it is far more valuable than a favourite. Love you. <3 I know I get whiny about it sometimes, and I don't want to pressure anyone, but the only reason I ever improve is via your feedback! And I do very much want to improve.

edit 2: Edited and touched up stuff. Click forward/back here on my facebook to see the changes (and try and ignore the shitty fb compression): [link]

It was mainly shading fixes, and little technical things like her cankles, the dress not looking right around the knees etc.

This has been bugging me ever since I submitted this initially. T_T I CAN BREATHE AGAIN UGH.

i like the outtake version better also.
and i HATE... hate... when you want to make a picture for a song you love and it just... feels like you can't get it as great as you imagined.

this is still great, and i love that it's a smiths song lol.

I guess...I find it weird because...this music was made before I was born. I still grew up with it because of dad- but yeah. XD

I really love the angle on this and the soft, muted colours. It has such a painterly/watercolour feel to it, and has a lot of character (especially for a digital piece).
