NOTE: I will be illustrating all 12 signs in order. Please don't ask me when I will get yours done. I couldn't care less what starsign you are, to be quite honest.
ABOUT THE SIGN
'Versatility is the hallmark of Sun sign Geminians. This is the first dual sign of the zodiac, and its subjects find it essential to pursue several courses of action at once. They also need to communicate on all levels. Their potential can be expressed in many ways, but especially through the media. This need for communication is so strong that they'll telephone their local radio station with comments on every conceivable subject and will even chat with someone on a bus line if no one else is available at the time.
Adaptable and Versatile Communicative and Witty Intellectual and Eloquent Youthful and Lively Nervous and tense Superficial and Inconsistant Cunning and Inquisitive'
Copied from Parkers' Astrology by Julia and Derek Parker.
THE CHARACTER
There is nothing nice about Rhiger. Even Gabriel has redeeming qualities, but Rhigs won't even pretend to give a fuck about you or what you're made of. Contradictory to his sign he's an anti-social ass, and hates those of his "friends" that continue to be in this presence.
He yearns for love of one person and thats his son, Eli, who he has a really dysfunctional relationship with.
He constantly tests peoples loyalty by betraying them; not 'cause he cares, moreso he's bored, and wants to see how far they can be pushed.
Secretly though, he does yearn for...proper interaction. But he's far too old and long gone for that.
Lucifer took him and Eli under his care when they'd been left homeless after a financial crisis. I'm not sure where he got his stitches/injuries from yet, but he deserves every one of them. :b
Also: Sorry to any and all Geminis. I feel kind of bad for giving you such a shitty character hahahaha.
TECH
I'm fairly...not pleased with this one. I liked the WIPs better, which always breaks my heart. But I tried the drawing method that was suggested to me by Kat in the middle of the last submission- that is, not work on individual sections so...obsessively. To paint the picture as a whole, so it appears more whole. I'd have to agree it is a much better way of doing things, faster too, and I don't get burned out on the details.
I do like the text and the lighting, I guess. Something about the clouds is pissing me off. In fact something about the whole thing is pissing me off. So if you have any idea what that may be, crit me prz. Not sure if this should be under Mature, opinions? It's only a tiny bit of blood. :v
Also- LOOK MA, no lines!
EDIT 1: I changed the border. It shits me that it's not fuzzy like the other two since I want to sell them in a deck of cards but I guess...it's okay if I change them around a bit, right? Mrrph I have problems with consistencies. But I like this border much better. I also brought out the vibrancy of the yellow more.
EDIT 2: Fixed the clouds, I uh...think. Also fixed his eye on the one with an eye. D: I wanted to keep it highlightless.
Rhiger and the Faragull species are mine. Watermarked and made a lot smaller just 'cause I'll be selling all 12 as a set when they're done. Keep an eye out if you're interested.
I'm enjoying these Zodiac images. Its really cool to see signs and symbols that we all know and recognise, but with your own unique (and sometimes disturbing) twist on what we recognise as the standard imagery. I'm looking forward to Scorpio! Not because its my birthday (though there is that) but just because I wanna see you draw the scorpion because its such a cool looking animal.
I'm loving the brown and yellow tones in this, and the text saying "Gemini" looks fantastic IMO. I can imagine this as a greetings card or something (y'know.... from a goth shop.... it'd have to be a goth shop!)
I like how you have actually drawn both faces (when it must have been tempting to just copy and flip!) One thing that slightly bothers me is the expression on the left face. The one on the right clearly represents something sinister, or portrays a sinister mood, but what does the one on the left represent? He still looks sinister.., just slightly less sinister than his counterpart. I would expect him to be shocked or scared by seeing the spookiness of the other face, or peaceful and loving, if you want him to represent an opposite (which seems natural given the mirror-image type of set-up here)
The clouds look fine to me, but maybe they just need more yellow, so that they blend onto the background more rather than contrasting with it.
I really really like this one though. I don't know why you don't!
Gabriel is my scorpio. XD He's scary. I'm kind of stuck with these zodiac images for the moment. It'll be a while till I can pick them up again.
Thank you! The text turned out to be a complete fluke. I like it a lot too.
Hahahahahhaha I AM SO GLAD SOMEONE COMMENTED ON THAT- the fact that I didn't just copy/flip them. I like it that way too, symmetry in compositions like this is a bad idea. Complete symmetry, anyway.
The two expressions are a tricky one. It looks like he's scowling at his evil self to me, like he hates it. But it's open to interpretation. The other thing is he has always been evil, just...he paid for it later on when someone decided to beat him up really badly for being an ass, by the looks of things.
Thank you again! I like it more now that I've had time to...well. Not stare at it for ages. XD
So its kind of his past self and present/future self looking back at each other? Thats a really cool concept. I may have to steal it from you (but if I do, I'll do it in a different way... somehow... X3)
Just...I dunno; I got to Leo and got the bases down and just ain't feelin' it right now. I'll pick it up again sometime soon. XD; I did do all of these really close together so I guess I burnt myself out.
wooo this is awesome!! (<~biased gemini e.e) haha no but really, i love this a lot... the dual sides look awesome, and the furry/hairy texture is just great... my favorite bit is the bits of hair that capture the light behind them. <3 i also love the expressions~
